A Summer Barn Wedding on the Outskirts of Portland, Maine

Jen & Dylan’s destination wedding in Dayton, Maine was an absolute DREAM! I was waiting for this day since I photographed their engagement session in Cape Charles in 2023! These two had a breathtaking wedding in a rustic barn decked out with twinkle lights. Jen’s love for literature and romance and Dylan’s goofy personality were blended beautifully and shined through beautifully throughout the day. Jen had hand knitted the shawl she wore, Jen saved every single flower Dylan had given her EVER and preserved them for the flower girls to toss at their wedding. Dylan’s Mom’s reaction to Jen was so emotional and sweet. Jen wanted a first look with her dad – dubbed “The Bridefather” and with Dylan. Their siblings each read something during the ceremony, then Jen and Dylan exchanged vows. With Jen’s love of literature she wrote the most eloquent vows, everyone was teary.

Another thing that was super romantic and didn’t leave a dry eye in the crowd was, Jens parents never had a first dance. Dylan and Jen arranged for them to have their first dance at their wedding reception. The Reception totally played into Dylans personality with a Goofy Hat box that everyone got into and lots of dancing. One thing I really loved about their wedding was how everyone in both families just blended together so warmly and happily. Their families were reunited since this was a destination wedding and it was so great to see them shower the couple with so much love and good energy. I had such a hard time picking favorites from this wedding. Maine is a GORGEOUS state, and I hope I get to have weddings there again soon.
