The Funny Bone & Virginia Beach Boardwalk | Virginia Beach, Virginia | May 20 & 21, 2023
Its crazy to me how fast time has flown. Today marks 10 years of Michael and I being together. A whole decade flew by, the best decade of my life! 10 years of loving this extraordinary man!!! And over the weekend (the 21st) marked our 7 year wedding anniversary! We had a fun and pretty low key anniversary weekend. Arielle went up to Northern Virginia to stay with her grandparents for the weekend.
Friday night I got home from dropping off Arielle, we had dinner and started watching a new show, Reacher, on Amazon. We also kicked off the weekend by exchanging cards and gifts. Michael got us an expensive bottle of Rose Champagne as well. We somehow stayed up until 2 AM, which is so hard to do now that we are getting older. We also ate more sweet than we probably should have, but, its a special occasion. 😉
Saturday, we got up and greeted some of Michael’s family that came down to drop something off for us and because they wanted to see the Monster Trucks on the beach. After they left, Michael and I made pizza for lunch, and watched some Reacher again. After an hour or so, we headed down to the the Oceanfront and walked along the boardwalk. We got ice cream at Kohr Brothers, and sat on a bench and just talked for a while. We walked hand in hand again after eating our ice cream. The monster truck event was over so we said “Bye!” to all his visiting family and then headed home to get ready for our date. For our anniversary, Michael took me to the comedy club in Virginia Beach, called The FunnyBone. We saw Dusty Slay and a few openers which were hilarious too! Poor Dusty was so thrown off by a guy in the audience though. DONT BE A DAVE! Let the comedians to their thing! But, it was a funny show nonetheless!! We came home after walking around the Town Center after the show, it was like almost midnight, I might add. We tried to watch another Reacher episode, but we both PASSED OUT because we were so tired.
Sunday, our actual anniversary, we slept in. The one thing neither of us get to do often. But, once we were up around 10, Michael made chocolate chip waffles for breakfast! Breakfast is Michael’s favorite thing to cook, and as the main chef in the house, its so nice that he makes breakfast for us on the weekends. We ran an errand and then stopped at an Ice Cream shop I had been wanting to try for a while now. The shop is called Aqua S and their signature Ice Cream flavor was called Sea Salt. I was SO intrigued by this blue soft serve ice cream, I had to try it. WOW was it delicious! My only complaint was there was only one size and it wasn’t big enough! LOL We sat outside and enjoyed the weather and our ice creams. After that, we came home and spent some time with the pets, but specifically, Lily Mae, our first baby, her birthday is the same day as our wedding anniversary, so we came home and sang her “Happy Birthday”. We got cleaned up for dinner and went back to the Oceanfront. We walked the boardwalk again until a place to eat sparked our interest. We both decided Hemmingways Restaurant and Bar Pilar was going to be good. We had never been there and it had both Michael & I’s food tastes on the menu. I got the Grilled Cajun Chicken and Shrimp! It comes with rice and broccoli. The sauce was TO DIE FOR. Michael had the Spicy Burger with Fries. He said it was soooo good. To finish it off we had Peanut Butter Pie to share. It was almost like eating Reeses cookie dough with housemate whip cream. We walked on this bridge on the residential side of the Oceanfront area that I had been wanting to walk on since I noticed it when we moved back here in November. We watched the gorgeous pink and purple sunset and a grey heron hunting a fish for dinner. After walking off dessert we went home and drank our champagne. We toasted to us and all the years to come!
I love you Michael! Happy Anniversary! I am so glad I get to do life with you. You are truly my best friend! You are such a blessing. Arielle adore and loves you too!
