We all have a fantasy; whether it be a practical fantasy like going full time before you are ready to make that leap, or an unrealistic fantasy like becoming a mermaid one day. For Michael and I, we have been planning on moving to the beach since we got engaged. We both wanted to move and rent a home in VA beach or Newport News. We were hoping that we would be able to move in prior to the wedding so when we came home from the honeymoon we could crash at our own place and dive right into our lives together.
Reality hit us in the face a few days ago and its been sitting heavy on my chest lately, because who are we kidding!? — We can’t move!!! We both got hit with money issues. Not only are both of our credit cards not paid off, they are getting closer and closer to MAX because of Christmas! Also 2 out of 3 of our vehicles needed a full set of new tires. Michael has 2 part time jobs. I have a part time job and I do photography part time. Both of us don’t get enough money or hours to move. We both have bills to catch up on, money to set aside for the honeymoon, and it just feels like a never ending stressor. We always seem to catch bad luck when it comes to money. I just had a HUGE mishap with my debit card, which meant my account was drained into the negatives AND my account was frozen. Which left me to buying Christmas presents on my credit card. Michael wants to eventually go to school for Graphic Design, but sadly he can’t do school because of money, and he doesn’t want to do school until we are living where we want to and established! As you know, I’m 20 years old. I’m still learning all the ropes to adulthood. My fiance, Michael will be 23 on Sunday (YAY!) and he’s still learning too, even though he’s been at it a few years longer than me. But, “Adulting” is just hard guys. It really is. My parents made it look so easy when I was growing up. But its hard, and its stressful! I have no idea how my parents did it. They got married at 21, were full time college students, had part time jobs and could afford an apartment. Michael and I compared Northern Virginia to VA Beach/Newport News. Rent down there is about $300 LESS than rent up here in NOVA. BUT we can’t afford EITHER right now. We REALLY don’t want to live with family, or even have family room mates in an apartment because we want to be out on our own, focus on US, 3rd party drama free, and to just be able to establish ourselves.
I am trying to be the optimistic one, I really am trying, but its really hard when you get a big reality check. But I have hope, and I pray to God that we can and will be able to move around our wedding date.

Because Reality can be scary sometimes!
