Winter Senior Portraits in Richmond VA’s Belle Isle

Belle Isle & Canal Walk | Richmond, Virginia | February 21, 2022

Hanna and I explored Downtown Richmond, VA at the Canal Walk and Belle Isle. It is so hard to believe that we were bundled up to photograph her WINTER Senior Portrait session on a 71 degree day! She packed a bunch of fleeces and sweaters and it was just too hot!

We stumbled across 2 locations accidentally whilst exploring Richmond and they DELIVERED when it came to locations! Part of the Spokesmodel Program is that you have an option to upgrade it to have destination sessions (meaning 90 minutes [without traffic] or more away from my house in Woodbridge) that includes 3 outfits and 3 locations. The 1st spot we stopped at, was one of the ones we just stumbled upon and the 2nd spot was literally just a parking lot!!

We spent the afternoon together; both of us had been DYING to try Raising Cane’s Chicken and there was one 7 minutes from where we were planning to photograph next. We ate some chicken tenders smothered in Cane’s sauce and left wanting to bring a whole loaf of Cane’s Texas Toast home with us! There are so many beautiful images of Hanna and she looks SO gorgeous with her curls, but below are my favorites!!!

This next set of photos was at the 2nd accidental location find. We were just looking for Canal Walk parking in Downtown Richmond and the parking lot my GPS took us to, had a building with a HUGE mural painted on it, I happened to have the ICONIC KLP Red Chair in my Jeep from another session. It was magic meant to happen. And I think all of the ones against the wall here are my favorite sets from the whole day – which is odd for me, because usually Golden Hour is my JAM!

Belle Isle was absolutely beautiful especially during Golden Hour!
